Arthur Morgan's Coughing Fits in Red Dead Redemption 2 Sound So Real Because Actor Roger Clark Was Actually Sick

Image
This article contains spoilers for Red Dead Redemption 2 . Red Dead Redemption 2 actor Roger Clark has revealed that Arthur Morgan's gnarly coughing fits were actually recorded when he was sick in real life. I recently interviewed Roger Clark for a YouTube video about how Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption was crafted. During our lengthy conversation, I was able to ask him something I've always wondered: How taxing is it to pretend to violently cough like Arthur does? According to Clark, it's actually not that bad — and in some cases, he wasn't even pretending. "It's not as bad as you'd think, because I had five years to spread it out," said Clark. "If ever there was a really bad coughing scene, we'd always save it for the end of the day. So, it wasn't as bad as you might think. I had five years to space it out. In five years, there's plenty of colds. There was a lot of data we got that was pretty damn genuine. [...] I'd be l...

Call of Duty's Anti-Cheat Boss Dispels Cheating Myths, Breaks Down Review Process, and More

Image
Cheating in video games has turned into a multi-billon dollar industry, one that has forced franchises like Call of Duty to build entire teams to combat this epidemic. One of the people leading the charge is a man named David Andrews, a former Department of Defense contractor and member of the Air Force who made the leap into the video game industry. He began this career change working at Rockstar Games, helping combat cheating in Grand Theft Auto Online. Last year, he made the jump to Activision to become the Senior Director of Game Security for Call of Duty. IGN had the opportunity to sit down with Andrews and peel back the layers on Call of Duty's anti-cheat system, Ricochet. Andrews disspelled myths about Call of Duty's anti-cheat, offered clarity on the process of how they investigate suspected cheaters, how they've hired cheater makers to combat the problem, and much more. It's a rare opportunity, as there's a lot of caution around publicly speaking about ant...

Nintendo Direct September 2026 No-Shows: From The Duskbloods to Mario

Image
Today's September 2026 Nintendo Direct has come and gone, and so has any chance of seeing the next 3D Mario, The Duskbloods, and more highly anticipated games that ended up being no-shows. Nintendo covered a lot in this morning's 45-minute slot. Metroid Ravenous is bringing Samus back for another 2D adventure , Kirby and the World Beyond is going 3D in 2027 , and Mario Kart World is finally getting some much-needed love with a new update. Nintendo Switch 2 owners are eating well in more ways than one, but many fans say they were left starving for something a little more filling. For instance, the company's hybrid sequel console is barreling through its second year without a proper 3D Mario to call its own. The Duskbloods, FromSoftware's vampire-themed Switch 2 exclusive multiplayer game, was nowhere to be seen despite still carrying a 2026 release window. Rumors suggesting new Super Smash Bros., Nintendogs, and Luigi's Mansion games were in the works really only h...

How Many Guest Characters Is Too Many? Tokyo Revengers X City of the Wolves Collaboration Sparks Fighting Game Debate

Image
The fighting game community is in the middle of a fierce debate over the amount of guest characters coming to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves . On September 9, SNK announced two more guest characters coming to City of the Wolves: Manjiro "Mikey" Sano and Ken "Draken" Ryuguji from Tokyo Revengers . These popular shonen anime protagonists mark the latest in a string of guest characters for the game, which include Chun-Li and Ken from Street Fighter, pro footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, music artist Salvatore Ganacci, and Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star. That’s a lot of guest characters for a game that’s only a little more than a year old — and while Ken and Chun-Li make sense given Capcom and SNK’s wealth of crossovers over the years, five guest characters from totally unrelated franchises feels a bit excessive to some players (myself included). There’s a trend sweeping through popular fighting games lately where non-fighting game characters are being included in maj...

One of Street Fighter 2's Original Designers Wants to Rebalance Super Turbo 3 Decades After Its Release

Image
Akira Nishitani, one of the original designers for Street Fighter 2 and Final Fight, expressed an interest in rebalancing Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo — over 30 years after its release. In September 2026 — 32 years after Super Turbo hit arcades in 1994 — Akira Nishitani, a legend in the fighting game world and a veteran of the industry, shared a post on X/Twitter with the wild concept of rebalancing the game after so many years. “Is it okay to tweak [Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo] again?” he wrote, as spotted and translated by EventHubs. “I wasn't really involved much, but if it's possible, I'd kinda like to give it a shot. Sorry if it turns into a nerf fest, lol.” スパⅡXを再調整するのアリですか? 私はほとんど関わっていなかったのですが、もし可能ならやってみたいなぁ。 ナーフ祭りになったらすみませんw — 西谷 亮 (@nin_arika) September 3, 2026 While Capcom has re-released a slew of its older fighting games over the years for various retro collections, we can’t imagine we’d get a totally rebalanced version of the original SSF2T, one of the...

Call of Duty Adds Doom Slayer Skin as Part of New Halloween Update

Image
Call of Duty's upcoming Halloween event will add the Doom Slayer to the game as a playable operator. As part of what is expected to be the final season of content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Activision is adding in one of the most iconic protagonists in FPS history: the Doom Slayer. The character will be added as part of The Haunting update, which will be released on September 17. Players will be able to acquire the Doom Slayer operator, inspired by Doom: The Dark Ages, as well as a Doomguy skin which is more in line with the character's look from the original Doom games. Of course, this will all be rounded out with signature Doom weaponry, including the shotgun, crucible blade, and the almighty BFG. The legendary FPS icon will be added on September 24 via an event pass, which players can purchase. There will also be a free tier which will include various items, such as Doom-inspired skins like a UAC scientist and reseracher, weapon charms, and more. The premium tier will h...
