Best Anime Series on Netflix Right Now (February 2023)

Image
As Netflix ’s library of Japanese anime series goes through the growing pains of expiring licenses, this Best of List will too. But there’s still plenty of canon anime series to watch. And we’re sticking to strictly Japanese animated series if you’re wondering why you don’t see anime-inspired juggernauts like Castlevania or more recent additions like Arcane (of which season two still lacks a release date). Despite the imminent release of the live action One Piece movie sometime this year, Netflix US has not renewed several seasons of the original anime series– including Romance Dawn (Ep.1) to the end of the Alabasta Saga (Ep. 130). Which means these seasons will leave its library on February 11, 2023. To make up for that loss, the final season of the fan favorite Aggretsuko, a new crime series, and the sci-fi drama Make My Day arrives on the platform this February. Note: As this is a list of anime series to watch, no anime movies were considered for this feature. This list applie

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor just got delayed, but not by much

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been delayed into April, studio Respawn has confirmed today. Initially set to release on March 17, the sequel to the well-received 2019 Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will now arrive on April 28. It's not a huge delay, with the new release date landing only six weeks after the initial one. In his announcement, game director Stig Asmussen attributes the delay to the usual need for further polish. "Making this game has truly made us a better team, and we have pushed ourselves at every level to make this the Star Wars sequel our fans expect from Respawn and Lucasfilm Games," the statement reads . "In order for the team to hit the Respawn quality bar, provide the team the time they need, and achieve the level of polish our fans deserve, we have added six crucial weeks to our release schedule." DC Unveils DCU's First Chapter: Gods And Monsters, Consists Of 10 Movie And TV Projects

Image
Warner Bros. Discovery revealed last year that  Guardians of the Galaxy  and  Peacemaker  director James Gunn and Aquaman producer Peter Safran had been hired to lead as co-CEOs of DC Studios . Since that reveal, DC fans have speculated what Gunn and Safran's new DCU, as the duo is calling the new DC cinematic universe, will look like in the coming years.  Gunn has teased on Twitter multiple times that he, Safran, and others were formulating their long-spanning plan for the DCU and now, today, the duo has pulled back the curtain on the first 10 projects. All 10 of these projects, which span across movies and TV, will be in Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters.  Here are just a few of our plans. Dead Space Performance Review

Image
What constitutes a remake or a remaster or even a reboot? Regardless of what you call it, today we’re looking at Dead Space, the new recreation of the classic survival horror game. The original is beloved by many – will history repeat itself here? What’s on the menu? Motive studios have some space experience, but this war is of a much bloodier kind, and remaking such a cherished sci-fi tale is surely a daunting task. The weapon of choice is DICE’s long serving Frostbite engine which has been used for everything from Battlefield to FIFA. Here they have to turn down the lights for a gory, tension-soaked rebirth of Isaac aboard the doomed Ishimura. The upgrades and rebuilt assets and models transform the entire game, and Isaac himself is now front and center with many of Dead Space 2’s improvements merged into the first game. Let’s start with the changes from the 2008 original, which was an impressive game for the time and still holds up well due to its focused technology and strong

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Release Date Delayed Six Weeks

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is being delayed, EA announced today. Respawn's forthcoming sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will now release April 28 — approximately six weeks after its original date. In a statement posted on social media, director Stig Asmussen addressed the reasoning behind the delay, saying the team is focused on polishing the final release while enhancing performance. For the last three years, the Jedi team here at Respawn has poured its collective heart and soul into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and we are proud to say the next chapter in the tale of Cal Kestis is content complete. We are now focused entirely on the final stage: bug fixes to enhance performance, stability, polish, and most importantly, the player experience. Jedi: Survivor is a direct response to the feedback from our community, delivering expansive destinations to explore, evolved combat and traversal, and of course, the continuation of Cal and BD’s story. Making this game has truly made us

Threadlings? Tangles? Lashes? New Destiny 2: Lightfall trailer focuses on exotic gear and Strand effects

Image
There's less than a month to go until the launch of Lightfall, and my girlfriend is already furious that we're having to plan our apartment move around its release date. (I also moved a surgical appointment last year to avoid clashing with Shadowkeep.) Maybe this new trailer, which showcases some of the exotic gear coming in Destiny 2's next big expansion, will help lift her mood*. Here's a list of what's showcased, with insight based on the accompanying spiel from Bungie. Exotic Weapons   Final Warning (Strand sidearm): Sidearms are one of the least-loved archetypes in the game (undeservedly so—they can be excellent in the right build), but the fact this one utilises the new Strand subclass makes it interesting. Final Warning shoots tracking rounds once charged, which I assume is an alt-fire toggle. The model looks like a mix of the Cryosthesia 77k and Liminal Vigil. Deterministic Chaos (Void machine gun): This LMG 'rhythmically weakens' enemies.

Annie Wersching, who voiced Tess in The Last of Us and also appeared in numerous television series over a 20-year career, has died of cancer at age 45. Wersching was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, according to a Deadline report, but continued to make appearances in multiple popular shows. One of her final roles was as the Borg Queen in six episodes of the second season of Star Trek: Picard, which came 20 years after her first appearance on television in an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise.  Wersching's IMDB page says her final credit capped off a multi-season run on the popular Nathan Fillion series The Rookie; she also had recurring roles in shows including Bosch, Runaways, Timeless, The Vampire Diaries, and 24. Her longest run on television came in 2007 as Amelia Joffe over 80 episodes of General Hospital. To gamers, though, she was best known as Tess Servopoulos, Joel's partner and a significant supporting character in the original The Last of Us. Tess is played by An

How Dead Island 2's FLESH System Procedurally Breaks Skin And Bones

As part of our monthly cover story, we interviewed Dambuster Studios' senior render programmer Aaron Ridge and technical art director Dan Evans-Lawes about designing Dead Island 2's procedural FLESH system that allows players to tear zombies from limb from limb. The pair happily simplify the tool's purpose as transforming zombie character models into "meat pinatas," with layers of exterior skin protecting internal organs.  from Game Informer https://ift.tt/pqtrHKV via IFTTT
