Indika Review – Rewarding Faith

Image
Reviewed on: PC Platform: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC Publisher: 11 Bit Studios Developer: Odd Meter Release: May 2, 2024 ( PC ), 2024 ( PlayStation 5 , Xbox Series X/S ) Rating: Mature Indika is bizarre, surprising, and captivating. It made me question its reality almost as often as its titular protagonist, a young nun tormented by the Devil, doubts her faith. This odd adventure from its aptly named developer Odd Meter may lack some design polish, but the fascinating tale at its core instilled enough faith in me to see it through to the end.  The game unfolds in early 19th-century Russia. Indika is treated as an outcast at her monastery, and, for some reason, she’s regularly taunted by the voice of Satan himself. The story doesn’t delve into how this sacrilegious relationship began, and that’s fine. The Devil is more of a storytelling device; a symbol of Indika’s desire to be a good person, contrasted by her growing skepticism and pragmatism in the church’s rigid

With My Past Review – Puzzle Therapy

Image
Reviewed on: PC Platform: PC Publisher: Edigger Developer: Imagine Wings Studio Release: May 7, 2024 Everyone can empathize with waking up late at night and sitting in agony as your brain forcefully makes you relive a traumatic, embarrassing, or heartbreaking moment. Our past is with us forever, and how it manifests in the present is a toss-up from day to day. With My Past, the debut game from developer Imagine Wings Studio, attempts to blend those feelings with platforming-puzzle gameplay and does so excellently. The result is a therapeutic five-hour adventure I'll be thinking about long after today.  After being startled awake at 3 a.m. by her past, an unnamed blue-haired girl goes on a journey through her labyrinth mind, which is holding her back. This translates to six distinct chapters of gameplay, each with a unique theme in narrative and mechanics. The first introduces you to her "Past," the throughline mechanic with which With My Past shines. Your pas

PSN Account Required For Ghost Of Tsushima's Multiplayer Mode On PC, But Not Single-Player Story

Image
Ghost of Tsushima , the hit 2020 PlayStation-exclusive samurai game, rides onto PC on May 16 , and ahead of the game's launch there, developer Sucker Punch Productions has revealed players will not need a PlayStation Network account to play through the game's single-player story mode, as reported by VideoGamesChronicle . However, a PSN account will be required to play through Ghost of Tsushima's multiplayer Legends mode, or if you want to use the new PlayStation PC overlay to acquire trophies and more.  This follows news from last week where PlayStation announced (and later walked back) that Helldivers 2 players will soon be required to link a PSN account to their Steam account , leading to widespread anger in the game's community. It seems Sucker Punch is looking to get ahead of this by revealing its PSN plans ahead of the game's launch in 10 days.  Thank you for your feedback. Just so you are aware, A PSN account is required for Legends online multiplayer mo

Fallout's Weirdest Vaults And The Games That Should Go With Them

Image
This article originally published on June 7, 2018 With the announcement of Fallout 76, fans are scrambling for clues that will shed light on the new game. A few concrete details come from the pre-existing information on Vault 76. Most vaults in Fallout were built for a specific purpose, and according to references in Fallout 3, Vault 76 supposedly held 500 people for exactly 20 years before opening and repopulating the surface. Repopulation is important and all, but is this the most interesting route for a new Fallout? Playing a wastelander on a noble quest is something we’ve already done several times, but a game built around the events of a specific vault is an intriguing proposition. We delve into canon Fallout lore to reveal a bounty of bizarre and disturbing scenarios, any of which could make for an excellent spinoff. Vault 12 Vault-Tec, the company who built the shelters spread across America, is a notoriously unethical corporation in the Fallout universe. In collaboration

The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass | Replay

Image
We've been making our way through The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask the past few weeks for our weekly Replay stream , but this week Marcus Stewart is busy on assignment, so Brian Shea joined me for a look at a different Zelda sequel. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass released in 2007 for DS and is controlled entirely by touchscreen. Back in 2017 while speaking with longtime Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma for our Breath of the Wild cover story, he cited Phantom Hourglass as his personal favorite Zelda game saying that his wife is a fan of that entry, and it was the first time he was in the role of producer. "I have a lot of sentiment for it,"Aonuma said. Check out the video below for an hour Phantom Hourglass gameplay below. If you enjoy our livestreams but haven’t subscribed to our Twitch channel, know that doing so not only gives you notifications and access to special emotes. You’ll also be granted entry to the official  Game Informer  Discord channel , where

Knuckles Show Review – A Low-Stakes Climb

<p><img loading="lazy" src="https://ift.tt/vez4Tru" width="800" height="332" alt="" typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-body-default" /></p> <p>The live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie series that started in 2020 has delivered entertaining adventures starring everybody's favorite Blue Blur and his ever-growing stable of friends. One of the highlights of <a data-entity-substitution="canonical" data-entity-type="node" data-entity-uuid="b8e707f7-abc2-407a-bbc7-4bcf237b8c0a" href="https://ift.tt/Q4au7ch the Hedgehog 2</em></a> was Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba. The fish-out-of-water gags and his strict adherence to the echidna warrior code, which is in stark contrast to Sonic's fun-loving personality, made for an enjoyable dynamic within the cast of characters. <em>Knuckles</em>, the new six-episode streaming show on Paramou

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Review - An Old Star Rises

Image
Reviewed on: PC Platform: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC Publisher: 505 Games Developer: Rabbit and Bear Studios Release: April 23, 2024 Rating: Everyone 10+ “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” A small child dressed as legally distinct Sailor Moon chirped this trite little phrase at me about an hour into Rabbit and Bear’s Suikoden successor Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. I’m not sure when I realized the adage applies to Hundred Heroes itself as much as it did to whatever the child was talking about. It might’ve been after I met a cleric whose vices included violence and foul language; but whenever it was, it encouraged me to overlook the misgivings Hundred Heroes’ poor first impressions raised in me, and there were plenty. Hundred Heroes adheres a bit too closely to outdated design conventions, but the strength of its writing and characters makes up for its short-sightedness. Rabbit and Bear were serious when they promised a modern Suikoden-like. You play

Keanu Reeves Reportedly Voicing Shadow In Sonic The Hedgehog 3

Image
Keanu Reeves is joining the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 , according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter (and first broken by The John Campea Show ). The outlet’s sources report that the John Wick and Matrix star is voicing Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to premiere on December 20 and will pit Shadow alongside a returning Dr. Robotnik (played by Jim Carrey) against Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. The returning cast includes Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba, James Marsden, and Colleen O'Shaughnessey. The film's first trailer premiered in front of a select audience at Cinemacon in Las Vegas last week and it provided the first real look at Shadow. Unfortunately, the trailer has yet to be publically released.  Paramount has yet to officially confirm Reeves' casting, but if this is true, he will join fellow new cast members, including Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone. Shadow's debut was teased at the en

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet – Temporal Forces | The Coolest Cards We Pulled

Image
The Pokémon Trading Card Game: Scarlet & Violet series rolls on with the latest expansion. This newest set, Temporal Forces, continues the Ancient and Future conventions introduced in Paradox Rift, giving players new strategies featuring a variety of easily playable Basic Pokémon.  The Pokémon Company sent along a bunch of booster packs for us to open to see what we could pull. The set is one of the smaller recent expansions, but still large by the long-established standard of Pokémon TCG. Players picking up Temporal Forces can expect to pull from a pool of more than 160 cards. In addition to the additional Ancient and Future Pokémon, Temporal Forces reintroduces Ace Spec cards, first implemented during the Black & White series of cards. Those Ace Spec cards were some of the more unique cards I pulled, but the full-art Pokémon and ex cards most wowed me; I particularly love the Arbok and Minccio full-arts I grabbed.  Check out my favorites I pulled from Pokémon Trading Card
