'It Doesn't Make Sense' — Uncharted Designer Doesn't Want a Remake of Drake's Fortune

Image
Benson Russell, designer for two of the original Uncharted games and a current developer at Naughty Dog, explained why he’s hesitant to welcome a potential remake of Drake’s Fortune. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune released in 2007 on the PlayStation 3. It’s the first game in the original Uncharted trilogy and a title that studios still take inspiration from to this day, even two decades later. Over the last two years, rumors have surfaced claiming that Naughty Dog is considering a remake of the iconic game. While this was mere speculation, players finally got to hear straight from the horse’s mouth in August 2026 when Benson Russell, designer for Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, spoke out about the subject in a conversation with FRVR . For Russell, remakes don’t make sense if the original games are still part of the cultural zeitgeist, making the idea of a Drake's Fortune remake something of an uncessary task in his view. “Uncharted as a thing is still in the zeitgeis...

Dataminers Uncover Five Possible DLC Characters for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

Image
Now that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is officially out in the wild, dataminers have wasted no time digging through the game’s files, and they’ve found some interesting heroes mentioned within them. Marvel’s latest fighting game has had quite a week. After stuttering issues plagued the PC version upon launch, Arc System Works was quick to implement a fix , turning the tide of public opinion from dismal to delighted. Many blamed these PC problems on Arc System Works’ anti-datamining measures, which seem to have paid off; one reputable source claimed they couldn’t find much, crediting the developer for their efforts in ‘cleaning up’ the game’s data. In other comments, they said they haven’t come across anything new regarding upcoming costumes or DLC spoilers — but they did mention that they’ve seen assets for a future battle pass, and warned players to “get ready” for what’s next. btw, there's not much to datamine out of tokon in terms of unreleased content (thank god). arcsys ha...

Hogwarts Legacy 2 Is Officially in the Works, Confirms Warner Bros.

Image
A sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is actively in development, according to Warner Bros. The studio confirmed in a recent earnings report that a "second installment" for Hogwarts Legacy is in the works. No details were provided on what the game will look like or when it might release, but it appears to be a serious focus for the company going forward. In the earnings report, WB expected that titles like Hogwarts Legacy 2 will "meaningfully contribute" to its future revenue. "We expect games to more meaningfully contribute to segment profitability going forward as our pipeline expands, including the second installment of Hogwarts Legacy," says the report. This shouldn't come as too big of a shock, though. Warner Bros. had previously stated that a Hogwarts Legacy successor was a big priority following the success of the first game. Hogwarts Legacy is among the best-selling games of all time, with 40 million copies sold. In 2023, it was the first non-Call of ...

Halo: Campaign Evolved Sales Estimates Put It at a Nearly 50-50 Split Between Xbox and PS5 Buyers

Image
Halo: Campaign Evolved, the recently released Unreal Engine 5 remake of the campaign half of original Xbox killer app Halo: Combat Evolved, has sold 1.2 million copies across Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Steam, according to estimates from Alinea Analytics. Alinea estimates revenue so far – bear in mind that Campaign Evolved has only been out for two weeks so far – stands at approximately $67 million. The firm estimates the split in purchases by platform to be about 42% on Xbox, 41% on PS5, and 17% on Steam. Alinea's Rhys Elliott calls the sales figures "soft" so far, citing too high a price for a package lacking in competitive multiplayer, while also offering far less content than for more money than the $40 Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which PS5 owners don't have access to but Steam users do. Elliott offered further analysis of the PlayStation sales figures in particular, saying, "This landed with an older, nostalgia-driven crowd rather than pulling in a fres...

The Elder Scrolls 6 Demo to Xbox Leadership Included a Giant Inflatable Rat, Placed Outside Bethesda Offices in Protest at Microsoft's Mass Layoffs

Image
Bethesda staff have inflated a giant rat outside the company's offices, during a visit by the Xbox management team to play The Elder Scrolls 6 . The large expandable rodent is the work of the CWA union, whose members include current and former Bethesda staff enraged by Microsoft's recent mass layoffs. Former employees also carpeted the street outside Bethesda's building with hundreds of red flags — one for every staff member laid off by Microsoft over the past 12 months. Yesterday, Xbox boss Asha Sharma enthusiastically confirmed she had seen a "live playthrough" of Bethesda's highly-anticipated upcoming RPG — and even teased its under-wraps subtitle . Perhaps unsurprisingly, Sharma made no mention of the enormous rat sat outside. "The scale and grandeur are incredible," Sharma said — referring to The Elder Scrolls 6. "The story is even greater." Footage from the CWA shared via Facebook shows Scabby, an infamous inflatable rat who has appe...

Sony Announces Phantom Blade Zero State of Play and Everyone Knows How the Chat Is Going to Go

Image
Promising looking action game Phantom Blade Zero is getting its very own State of Play, but if the reaction to Sony’s announcement is any indication, the chat is going to be overrun with angry comments about Sony’s decision to kill PlayStation discs. Sony announced the State of Play, set for August 17 at 7pm PT / 10pm ET / August 18 at 3am UK time, across its socials and on the PlayStation Blog . As with so many PlayStation announcements these days, the replies are dominated by the continued backlash to the impending end of PlayStation disc production from 2028. And this new State of Play — the first since Sony’s announcement sent shockwaves through the video game industry — looks set to be no different. “Need everyone to spam #NODISCNOBUY in that chat,” one person said. “Oh that chat is gonna be one for the history books,” another said. “Oh, this live stream is gonna be overloaded with people telling Sony what idiots they are for not supporting physical anymore. The message will be l...

Xbox CEO Gets Elder Scrolls 6 Demo, Teases the Subtitle

Image
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma got to see a "live playthrough" of The Elder Scrolls 6, and she posted her reactions on social media afterwards. She also teased – in the vaguest of ways – the subtitle for the upcoming RPG. "Live playthrough of The Elder Scrolls VI: ******** this morning," she posted on her X account. "The scale and grandeur are incredible. The story is even greater." Her statement certainly poses a lot of questions, starting with, "What does ******** mean?" Did she use the exact number of asterisks for whatever the word is (it's eight asterisks, by the way)? How far along is the gameplay that she saw? What's the story about? By "incredible scale," did they show her the entire world in a flythrough? And does this mean we're any closer to getting a proper reveal? For now, those questions will have to remain unanswered, and it's not as if the CEO of Xbox would come out of that demo and publicly post anything negative...
