Street Fighter 6 Ed Early Impressions

Image
When it launched last June, Street Fighter 6  immediately earned critical acclaim , differentiating itself from its predecessor. With 18 fighters and a wealth of single-player content on offer, Street Fighter 6 gave players plenty to enjoy in its earliest days, but that’s not stopping the team from pursuing a post-launch content plan similar to the one that eventually righted the ship with Street Fighter V. Last July, the SFV debutant Rashid joined the roster, followed by new challenger AKI in September. During Capcom Cup X, we went hands on with Ed, the latest Street Fighter 6 DLC character, before he joins the fight this week. Ed first appeared as a non-playable character in Street Fighter IV before joining the actual roster in the second wave of Street Fighter V’s DLC. Raised by Shadaloo as a potential replacement body for M. Bison, Ed can wield Psycho Power, which he uses to great effect in Street Fighter 6.   As a protege of Balrog, Ed uses a combination of boxi...

Pixel-Art Metroidvania 'Primal Planet' Officially Announced

A single developer has been hard at work on the now-officially-announced Primal Planet, a pixel-art Metroidvania that tasks you, a caveman, with protecting your family from dinosaurs...but also aliens. Solo developer Seethingswarm is bringing a decade of development experience to Primal Planet, and in addition to its Metroidvania core, the game will also feature crafting and survival elements. And co-op isn't just a typical carbon-copy player 2. Here, Seethingswarm says, "Player 2 can jump in at any time as Sino the nimble sinosauropteryx, your faithful companion. Work together to overcome obstacles, solve puzzles, and battle foes as your bond strengthens, skills increase and Sino grows up to become a fierce and loyal friend.)" Primal Planet also promises a wide array of dinosaurs (yes, including a T-Rex), a mysterious sci-fi-infused narrative, and diverse biomes...

AT&T Execs Asked Game of Thrones Showrunners to Shoot Episodes Vertically to Be Viewed on Phones

While Game of Thrones was a bit controversial towards the end of its original run, it could have been a lot more polarizing as executives at HBO's former owner asked if the fantasy series could be shot vertically so that the episodes could be watched on phones. In a new article from The Wall Street Journal , the outlet notes that executives from AT&T asked Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss whether the series could be shot vertically "so it would fit on your phone." According to WSJ, AT&T also "openly discussed" making "snackable" mini-episodes for Game of Thrones. "Dysfunction kills more projects than anything else, whether it's interpersonal dysfunction or institutional dysfunction," Weiss told the WSJ. AT&T owned HBO's parent company, WarnerMedia, in 2018.
