Welcome to This Week in PC Gaming, a show where we take a look at the new games, updates, and more coming at you over the next week, every week, until the end of time. Or until I grow bored and decide to leave gaming to live on a farm to raise chickens or some nonsense.

This week, we're rewinding time in Life is Strange Remastered, attempting to build a conflict-free world in The Hundred Year Kingdom and avoiding contracting a deadly virus while trying to pull humanity out of the Dark Ages in Dying Light 2 Stay Human. So nothing like real life, then!

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Hands-Off Preview and New Details Revealed at gamescom latam

At gamescom latam 2024, we had the chance to check out some brand-new gameplay firsthand of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, and it included a look at such newly announced characters in action like Mr. Satan and Future Trunks as well as a glimpse of the story mode. This preview followed a new Sword vs. Fist trailer that showcased just some of the 160 characters that will be part of this latest entry in the beloved Budokai Tenkaichi series, including Super Vegito, Jiren, Roasie, Ribrianne, Yajirobe, Spopovich, Dabura, Anilaza, Goku (Super) Ultra Instinct - Sign-, and Goku Black Super Saiyan Rose. In our new look, which you can see below, we get to see more of the Battle Mode that lets you practice against CPU or jump online to take on others around the world. Dragon Age: The Veilguard's Devs Reveal New Info About Each of the Companions (and Solas and Varric, Too)

Friendships, romantic relationships, and everything in between have always been an integral part of not just the Dragon Age series, but of BioWare in general. From Mass Effect’s Garrus Vakarian to Dragon Age’s Varric Tethras, the characters – and how they get along with the player – are inseparable from titles from the studio. But, perhaps more than any other BioWare game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is leaning in heavily on this idea, as it’s already easy to see from the marketing material. For one, the name changed from Dragon Age: Dreadwolf back in June, with BioWare general manager Gary McKay telling us at the time that it was out of a desire to shift the focus to a “really deep and compelling group of companions.” That would be followed by a first official trailer at Summer Game Fest that put the focus squarely on seven new companions that will be tagging along with the player character, Rook, in The Veilguard.
