Before Palworld’s Early Access debut in 2024, I remember eagerly wanting to review the completely unhinged-looking “Pokemon with guns” game, mostly as a joke. Hilariously, the joke was on me when it not only became one of the biggest games of the year, but also one of my all-time favorite survival games . With its 1.0 update now finally at-hand over two years later, I was quite excited to jump back into this strange, sometimes-oddly-dark creature collector. Though I’m only a dozen hours into a fresh playthrough of the 1.0 version, so far it has improved in all the ways I hoped it would after sinking so much time into its earliest incarnation. For whatever reason, a bunch of video game companies are helping advertise Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced . The social accounts for Control , Dead by Daylight , and various gaming hardware companies such as SteelSeries have had their accounts taken over by marketing for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. The long-awaited remaster/remake of the beloved Assassin's Creed game dropped today and, to apparently help spread the word, all of these accounts posted about the game. Epic Game Store also rebranded its socials by changing its profile picture and banner to feature Black Flag-themed imagery. John Carmack has responded to the significant layoffs at Doom developer id Software, expressing sadness but not “anger or outrage.” On Wednesday, a WARN notice filed in Texas reported by Game Developer confirmed that 96 workers had been laid off in Richardson, Texas, home of id Software, with a further 40 remote roles cut. Reports indicate 50% of staff have lost their jobs. The cuts come as part of new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma’s “reset” of Microsoft’s gaming business, which began with 1,600 staff losing their jobs on Monday. Another 1,600 will be let go during the rest of the current financial year. Four Xbox studios are already out the door, with another hot on their heels. After just five or so hours with Revelations so far, I already feel confident saying that the new combat elements it brings to the table make the encounters in this DLC the very best Doom: The Dark Ages has to offer. We didn’t get early code for this expansion, so my full review isn’t ready quite yet – I still need to finish up the last third of the campaign and then check out what seems to be a fairly robust endgame. But the new Chain Spear and refreshed mobility of Revelations have it inching ever closer to the stratospheric heights of Doom Eternal , which is already enough for me to confidently tell any fellow Doom heads that Revelations is a must-play. This DLC’s story picks up right where the main campaign left off, and while you can technically jump straight into it first, you’ll be missing out on some pretty necessary context if you do. Developer Echofall Games has announced Deepward, a high-speed first-person shooter roguelite set in the 1920s that lets you choose three distinct heroes from a roster of six, switching between any of the three of them on the fly during the brutal melee and gun-based action. Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 might be missing a few modes and pieces of content when they're re-released for PS4 and PS5 later this month. The trophy lists for both games have appeared online and, while they're largely identical to the original PS3 versions, there are a few differences. As pointed out by X user ForwardLeaks , several trophies around using the game's theater mode, League Play, and winning wager matches have been outright removed. Theater mode allowed players to watch replays of previous matches and move the camera around, which was useful for content creation during YouTube's infancy. Wager matches, on the other hand, were a playlist that allowed players to gamble in-game currency on more unique game modes.
