Styx: Blades of Greed Review

Image
It might not have the same kind of ambition or bells and whistles as its contemporaries, but Styx holds a special place in my heart as one of very few pure stealth game series we have left. Will you find the incredibly creative scenarios of Hitman or the insane level of polish and replayability of Dishonored? Nope. Instead Styx contents itself with simply being a reliable way for stealth fans to get their fix, and Styx: Blades of Greed is no exception. More often than not, the usual playbook of sneaking around, stealing and assassinating everything in sight, is as fun as it’s ever been, and this sequel makes some important tweaks, like removing weak multiplayer mechanics to refocus on a solo stealth experience and swapping smaller, mission-based maps for absolutely massive regions. But it’s also saddled with quite a few of the same issues it’s always had, finicky movement, performance issues, and an unremarkable story, which are as disappointing as they are completely expected. Pokémon Fans Are Worried FireRed and LeafGreen Won't Be Compatible With Pokémon Home, Making the PokéDex Impossible to Finish

Image
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen are coming to Nintendo Switch next week to celebrate the series 30th anniversary. And while The Pokémon Company and Nintendo have already answered a number of questions about the releases that probably shouldn't have been necessary to ask to begin with, there's one question we still don't know the answer to: Will these games be compatible with Pokémon Home? For the non-Pokénerds out there, Pokémon Home is a cloud-based, paid subscription service that allows users to store Pokémon from various games, as well as move them between certain compatible games. The service has been directly compatible with every new Pokémon game on the Nintendo Switch , as well as Pokémon GO, and it also works with Pokémon Bank, a similar program that existed on the 3DS. The explanations and rules are a bit convoluted, but essentially, it's only through Bank and Home that Pokémon from older games such as Red/Blue/Yellow and Gold/Silver/Crystal (in their Virtual...

Arc Raiders Shrouded Sky Trailer Teases Hurricane Map Condition and Windy Gameplay Hazards

Image
Violent weather is about to hit the Rust Belt, as developer Embark Studios has revealed a first look at the new Hurricane map condition coming to Arc Raiders . The studio pulled back the curtain on Shrouded Sky, its next major content update, with a post on its website . It comes with a sneak peek at how hurricanes will tear through maps like Spaceport, promising what already looks like the most dangerous weather the southern Italy-set video game has faced yet. Powerful Electromagnetic Storms and wintery Cold Snap conditions have had players seeking shelter before, but Embark says Arc Raiders hasn’t seen anything quite like this. Starting with the launch of Shrouded Sky February 24, Raiders may be subjected to strong winds that will have them rethinking how they approach PvP and PvE. Searching for topside resources and blueprints during a hurricane will have players fighting both with and against the wind. Running with the storm could provide a small speed boost, for example, but...

Slay the Spire 2 Early Access Release Date Set for March as Animated Trailer Reveals 4-Player Co-Op

Image
Developer Mega Crit has published a new animated trailer for Slay the Spire 2 , revealing four-player co-op and an early access release date of March 5, 2026. The sequel to the studio’s beloved roguelike deckbuilder reappeared with a two-and-a-half-minute trailer today. Alongside the promise to bring a host of new features to Early Access players on Steam in just a few weeks, the footage comes mixed with a stylish animation that almost looks like it could stand alone as its own TV show. As the trailer’s silent hero falls in battle, we see others come to their aid, revealing that players won’t have to fight through Slay the Spire 2’s dark fantasy world alone. Gameplay featured in the footage highlights combat encounters for up to four players, with Mega Crit explaining in a blog post on Steam that the multiplayer mode will feature its own specific cards and team synergies. While Early Access is said to come with new cards, characters, events, relics, potions, abilities, alternate...

The Elder Scrolls 6 Will Return to Bethesda's 'Classic Style' After Detours With Skyrim, Fallout 76, Says Todd Howard

Image
The Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be a return to Bethesda's "classic style" of games, according to Bethesda director Todd Howard. This comes from an interview done by Howard with KindaFunny today, in which he talked about why he can't really provide too much of an update on The Elder Scrolls 6, and admits he would have preferred not to have announced it so early (in 2018). However, he says players can expect it to be a return to Bethesda's classic form, after the studio took "creative detour[s]" with both Starfield and Fallout 76. Here's the full quote from Howard: "We do have a certain style that we like and that our fans like that we want to get better and better at. I think in some ways Fallout 76 and Starfield are a little bit of a creative detour from that classic Elder Scrolls, Fallout, a Skyrim or a Fallout 3 or a Fallout 4, Oblivion, where you're exploring a world in a certain way. And as we come back to Elder Scrolls 6 that we...

Amazon Has Some Great Deals On Magic: The Gathering Commander Decks Right Now

Image
There’s nothing better than a Magic: The Gathering Commander night with friends, and Wizards of the Coast keeps releasing plenty of preconstructed decks so you can jump right in with friends or start to build around a choice card. They’re pretty regularly discounted, too, which is always appreciated, but right now Amazon has some fantastic deals on Lorwyn Eclipsed’s duo of decks and a huge bundle of Tarkir Dragonstorm decks, too. Here’s why they’re worth a look. Save Big On MTG Precons At Amazon Right Now Kicking off with the latest set, Lorwyn Eclipsed, there are two decks available for the set. Blight Curse is helmed by Auntie Ool, Cursewretch (or The Reaper, King No More), and leans into the -1/-1 counters archetype that we really don’t see too much of in precons. It’s a fantastic deck—possibly one of the best in recent memory— and has a few bucks knocked off the price to bring it to $45.49 . It’s joined by Dance of the Elements, which has an even better price. The fiv...
