Square Enix Finally Breaks Silence On Kingdom Hearts 4, Shares Screenshots, Says It's 'Dedicated to Making this an Experience That Lives Up to Your Expectations'

Image
Square Enix has reaffirmed yesterday's roundabout confirmation that Kingdom Hearts 4 was still on the way in a brand-new message posted to social media that, complete with images, leaves no doubt. Yesterday, Square Enix revealed Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link , the GPS-based action-RPG for mobile, had been canceled, but took the opportunity to assure Kingdom Hearts fans that the developer was still "hard at work" on Kingdom Hearts 4. "We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts 4 and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations!" said the first of two posts alongside a collage of several screenshots that not only show us some of the characters you can expect to meet, but also a sneaky peek at some stills from cinematics, combat, platforming, and an intimidatingly large enemy. You can check out the image collage below: To our Kingdom Hearts community, We’re c...

EA Pushes Full Return to Office, Effectively Ends Remote Hiring

Electronic Arts has announced to employees that it will be ending its remote working policies permanently, and implementing a full return to office. Wait, Is That a Kid in GTA 6?

Image
The Grand Theft Auto series does not feature kids in gameplay. It’s a golden rule for pretty much all video games that let you indiscriminately kill NPCs. Look at what happened with The Sims competitor inZoi earlier this year , when players found they were able to run over children (the developer quickly patched it out and called it a bug). So, you can understand why a seemingly innocuous screenshot released for GTA 6 that looks like it shows a kid in-game has sparked so much speculation. The screenshot in question is of the Grassrivers section of GTA 6 ( we’ve got a whole page devoted to the area if you want to know more ). If you look closely at the bottom right-hand corner of the image, below, you can make out a few people sitting at an outside table. One of these people looks a lot smaller than the other two, so much so that observers are saying it’s a child. This detail was picked up by X / Twitter account TheGTAVerse and their post has since gone viral, picking up over 1....

Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link Mobile Game Cancelled, But It's Not All Bad News As Square Enix Teases It Is 'Hard at Work on Kingdom Hearts 4'

Image
Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link , the GPS-based action-RPG for mobile, has been cancelled — but it's not all bad news for Kingdom Hearts fans, as Square Enix confirmed it is still "hard at work" on Kingdom Hearts 4 . Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link would have taken us to the realm of Scala ad Caelum in a new, original story in the grand battle against the Heartless on mobile devices, and had been originally slated to release in 2024. However, in an unsigned statement posted to the game's X/Twitter account, Square Enix wished to "convey [its] heartfelt apologies to everyone who have been looking forward" to it, but cancelled the project because it was "determined that it would be difficult [...] to offer a service that players would find satisfactory over a long period of time." The statement did not elaborate on what, exactly, was proving difficult. "We wish to convey our heartfelt apologies to everyone who has been looking forward to the start...

Palia Review in Progress

Image
There’s something uniquely satisfying about putting down roots in a sleepy town in games like Animal Crossing , Stardew Valley , or Disney Dreamlight Valley . Palia evolves this tradition to great effect, injecting large-scale multiplayer into that tried-and-true formula. After 50 hours of chopping down trees, hunting woodland critters, decorating my home, and hanging out with my fellow Palians, I’ve had a fantastic time catching up on all I’ve missed since the early days of the beta. I still have to dive into the new content and loads of updates that arrived today with its console launch and first major expansion, Elderwood, but I am eager to do so ahead of my final review.= Palia is a cozy life sim with one major tweak: you’re in an online world that occasionally compels you to come out of your shell and interact with other humans – a sometimes Herculean task for the introverts often drawn to this genre. As you explore, you’ll encounter others out in the shared world going about t...

Ex-Rockstar Veteran Thinks GTA 4 Should Be Remastered: 'Niko Is Still the Best Protagonist in Any GTA'

Image
A former Rockstar veteran has responded to recent rumors that a GTA 4 re-release on the latest generation of consoles could be in the works to say the game should be remastered. The GTA 4 rumor began life with a post from Tez2 , who is known within the GTA community for leaking Rockstar information. Tez2 suggested a GTA 4 port for modern systems may be released this year, and its existence was part of the reason Rockstar recently had a GTA 5 Liberty City Mod shut down . However, it’s worth stressing that Rockstar has made no indication it plans to re-release GTA 4, and in truth such a game would come as a huge surprise, given the studio's ongoing focus on GTA 6. Obbe Vermeij, former Rockstar Games technical director who worked at the company from 1995 to 2009, was asked about the GTA 4 rumors on social media. While he hadn’t heard about them, he did say GTA 4, which he worked on, “should be remastered.” “It's a great game and there have been a number of successful remas...
